EuroSkills Budapest 2018 won a prestigious international award

EuroSkills Budapest 2018, the European Championships for young professionals was awarded a silver medal at the Global Eventex Awards, which is renowned as the Oscar of events.


The winners were announced on 26th March 2019 and in the Educational Event category EuroSkills Budapest 2018 won the outstanding second place. The Global Eventex Awards is one of the largest international event competitions that rewards the most outstanding events since 2009 in six different categories. In 2018 a total of  331 events were nominated in 42 subcategories from over 80 countries worldwide. The jury took into consideration the overall design, creativity, innovative ideas, quality of services, efficiency and results. The members of the jury consisted of experienced experts such as David Adler, the Founder of BizBash, Laura Schwartz, the Director of Events for the Clinton Administration, Stefania Conti-Vecchi, Founder of EVENTagist, or Thomas Wahl, President of the Danish Marketing Association.


Last year's EuroSkills competition was held in Budapest, Hungary at the Hungexpo between 26-28 September 2018, organized by the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During the three-day event besides visiting the competitions, the guests were also invited to attend the programs, conferences, professional events, and young people were able to try different professions.


Hungexpo as the venue of the EuroSkills competition covered a total of almost 60,000 sqm, the entire event center in six pavilions and a tent: the venues of the competitions were 40,000 square meters, the conference and the exhibition were 6,000 square meters. The international event was preceded by four years of preparatory work and hundreds of people worked to make this prestigious event a success.


At the event nearly 525 competitors from 28 countries showed their skills in 37 professions in front of more than 85,000 visitors. In the competition the Hungarian team's competitors won 3 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze medals and 9 medallions of excellence.
